Stoke-on-Trent has an extremely broad range of things for you to do, from visiting world famous and award winning museums, to a day out taking in the beautiful sights from Staffordshire Moorlands ‘The Roaches’. With fantastic road links all around the surrounding area, motorways, airports, train stations etc are all very easily accessible.
Here we have provided some of the attractions which we love within our City, so you can get a feel of what Stoke-on-Trent can offer you!
World Capital of Ceramics
As we are sure you’re aware, Stoke on Trent is the World Capital of Ceramics – a title we are all extremely proud of! We have many attractions that give an insight into our pottery heritage, such as Gladstone Pottery Museum, Wedgewood World, Portmeirion, and Emma Bridgewater. The museums offer great days out, and the shops are brilliant for gifts, or, a treat for yourself!
As mentioned earlier, Stoke on Trent is also very close to ‘The Peak District’ which is home to ‘The Roaches’. The Roaches are extremely popular for Hikers, Rock climbers, and walkers, all wanting to experience the breathtaking views – on a clear day, you can see as far as Mount Snowdon in Wales!
There are many places in Stoke-on-Trent where you can enjoy a walk. For example, Knpersley Reservoir, Buxton, Park Hall, Rudyard Lake, and Cannock Chase is also very close. Whether you want to spot some wildlife, or have a picnic, there is many places for you to choose from!
Alton Towers is on your doorstep! The fantastic adrenaline fuelled theme park is a short drive from Stoke on Trent, and is sure to make you laugh and smile all day long! It has something for everyone, from CBeebies Land for the younger visitors, and the 0-100kph in 2.5 seconds ‘Rita’, it is sure to be a memorable day for all who visit!
The home of the Premier League football team, Stoke City FC! If you are a fan of football, or after an exciting afternoon, the Britannia Stadium is the place to be on match days! But not only is it famous for it’s football and one of the greatest players in football history, Sir Stanley Matthews, it also hosts a variety of events. The Britannia Stadium has seen the likes of concerts from Bon Jovi, Elton John and Bryan Adams as well as the ‘Big Motor’ show and a ‘Drive In Cinema’!
Stoke Ski Centre
Ever fancied a go of a snowsport? Now is the time to give it a go! The dry ski slope at Festival Park, Etruria, is home to Snowsports. From ‘Tubing’ and ‘Bumboarding’, to ‘Skiing’ and ‘Snowboarding’, you don’t need snow to participate in these fun filled experiences!
