John graduated from the university of Glasgow in 1975 and joined the practice almost immediately after. He became a partner in 1981. In 1975 the practice was predominantly concerned with farm animals and horses and John was instrumental in modernising the small animal services with the development of the Sandon Road branch surgery at Meir in 1987 and the current Cheadle surgery on Tean Road in 2000. Recently he has acted as project manager for the new hospital at Meir Park.
John’s main clinical interests lie in farm animal medicine and surgery and he works in the large animal department in conjunction with McMurty & Harding, part of the Derbyshire Veterinary Services.

We provide veterinary care and work closely with local animal charities who are responsible for stray, abandoned and unwanted pets. Some of these pets require veterinary care & the charities are dependant on donations from members of the public. It is local charities like these who are the unsung heroes of animal welfare, working tirelessly to care for and re-home animals in need. Please follow the links below if you would like to know more about their work, foster or re-home an animal, or make a donation.
